  • NPQ Project exemplification and support guidance

In your final assessment you need to complete your project and submit the associated write-up within your submission deadline. We understand that this can be challenging, and so we, and Ambition Institute, have been working hard to develop further ways to support you to successfully achieve your NPQ.

We are therefore pleased to share with you Ambition Institute’s ‘Project exemplification and support’ guidance, to support you to demonstrate how you have met each assessment criteria, as outlined in the DfE’s National Professional Qualification (NPQ) Content and Assessment framework.

The guidance has been designed to aid you to:

  1. Fully understand the marking criteria: Our lead assessors have analysed each criterion to show you the difference between achieving 0, 1 and 2 marks.
  2. Show you ‘what a good one looks like’: A full submission has been provided, including all key documents, from a previously successful participant, with an analysis of ‘how’ and ‘why’ they have been able to meet the criteria.
  3. Analyse your own project: After understanding what the assessment criteria means, and seeing what this looks like in practice, we ask you questions so that you can think about how to meet the criteria in your own project.

We must emphasise that it is really important to use this guidance as intended: to develop your understanding of the assessment criteria to support you in writing up your own improvement project to both achieve the NPQ, and to develop your thinking to genuinely improve your expertise in school leadership.

Please watch this short video to explain the resource (7 minutes)

You can find the guidance here: NPQML | NPQSL | NPQH | NPQEL

We hope you find this resource useful and we look forward to hearing more about your exciting improvement projects, as you continue on your leadership journey and, ultimately, support an education system where every child can thrive, no matter their background. We wish you the best of luck in achieving your NPQ!
