A focus on our new NPQ Delegates

Jenny Tew tells us why she wanted to take part in the NPQML.

‘I am now in my fourth year of teaching and am an Early Years Leader so it seemed like the next logical step to do a middle management qualification.  I am responsible for leading a team within the foundation stage and the course will help me with techniques and strategies on how to manage others and take on a lead role.

‘I have attended one session so far which I found to be extremely well run, the organisers had a lot of knowledge about what we needed to do and how they could help us and it was a great opportunity to network with other schools and share ideas and best practice. We started work on a research project where we will focus on reading and how to develop the comprehension of reading, which will help us to drive up standards and then implement it across the whole of the school.’

Jenny qualified at Birmingham University and did her first year of NQT at Kibworth Primary school before moving to Oakley Vale Primary in Corby, where she has been teaching in Early Years ever since. Born and bred in Market Harborough, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going to the gym and walking her dog.

‘I am looking forward to completing the course and developing and establishing myself as a middle leader and helping to drive up the standards within our already good Early Years department.’
